Some Materials May Contain Offensive Content
For historical, archival, and educational purposes, North Central College preserves in its Archives permanent records, which have been gathered across a timespan of more than 150 years. Such records include historical photos, documents, student newspapers, yearbooks, and other materials. The College's Archives strive to make its digital collection resources available for use by students, faculty, staff, alumni, researchers, and the general public. Users are advised that some of the digitized materials may contain racist or offensive language, the depiction or description of negative stereotypes, and other distasteful imagery and content. While rejecting biased and racist views, the College and its Archives has thoughtfully chosen to keep intact all materials including those that are offensive, particularly when viewed in a modern-day context. It remains the College's intention, as an academic institution that nurtures a culture of curiosity and values lifelong learning, to preserve and maintain an uncensored historical record. The preservation of all records allows for the honest acknowledgement of the College's history, the scholarly examination of the material and an understanding of the material in its historical context, and the furthering of the College's mission to be a diverse, inclusive, and globally engaged community.
