The
JVC mini-DV to VHS converter is a machine that can be used to convert mini-DV
cassettes to VHS tapes for viewing in standard VCRs. It can also be used to view
mini-DV tapes and record onto the mini-DV format from other sources such as VHS.
Two mini-DV to VHS converters are located in the Giere Audiovisual Center in Oesterle
Library.

Important! To protect against accidental erasure of
the mini-DV cassette, please remember to slide the copy protect tab to the "Save"
position.

1. Turn on the JVC mini-DV to VHS converter
And the TV monitor.
2. Load mini-DV cassette into the JVC recorder.

3. Load a blank VHS cassette into the JVC recorder
(not the Panasonic VCR monitor on top)

4. Select the dubbing direction by pressing the button
marked with the arrow pointing right (under the DV label).

5. Press the DUB button for more than two seconds.
Both tapes will rewind and recording will automatically begin. You may watch the
program while it is duplicated.

When dubbing is complete, both tapes will rewind and the machine will shut off.
Mini-DV to VHS (portion of tape)
A. Turn on the JVC mini-DV to VHS converter
and the TV monitor.
B. Load mini-DV cassette into the JVC recorder.

C. Load a blank VHS cassette into the JVC recorder
(not the Panasonic VCR monitor on top).

D. Locate the start point on the mini-DV tape.
Press DV.
Press play to start playback.
Press pause to pause playback a little before the start point.

E. Set VHS tape for dubbing.
Press S-VHS.
Press and hold pause and press record so the VHS deck enters the record pause
mode.

F. Press Start to begin dubbing.

G. To stop dubbing, press Start. The deck will enter
the record pause mode.
H. To end dubbing, press stop to stop recording on
the VHS deck.
Then press DV and Stop to stop playback on the DV deck.

Remove tapes from machine and turn off power.
