ID for logging into library databases (Academic Search Premier, J-STOR, Lexis-Nexis, etc.)

On Campus

If you're using a computer in Oesterle Library or anywhere on the North Central College campus, you should never be prompted to log in to a database. If you do see a login screen in a library database while you're on campus, please come up to the Information Services Desk, or contact us by phone, chat, or email so that we can help you gain access to the database.

Off-Campus

If you're off-campus, you can still use library databases, but you'll have to log in using your campus network ID and password .

When attempting to log in to library databases, you should see a login page that looks like this:

Your username should be in this format: first letter of first name, first letter of middle name, last name. If your name was John Paul Smith, your username would be jpsmith. Your should have set your password yourself. If you're unsure what your password is, try resetting it.

If you've tried using your network ID , but still can't log into library databases, please contact us by phone, chat, or email so we can help you gain access to the database.

If you don't see the page above, you should contact us by phone, chat, or email so that we can help you gain access to the database. Or, see our troubleshooting guide for accessing databases from off campus.

Logging into library catalogs (CardinalCat, I-Share, Renew Books/MyAccount) and Interlibrary Loan

To request or renew books, or to place a request for a book via ILL, you must create an account in CardinalCat. This account is different than and not connected to your network ID. To create your account you will need your Library ID number which is the 14-digit number located near the barcode on your North Central ID card. It should look something like this:
