Accessing Library Databases From Off Campus

How to log in to library databases from off campus

If you're off-campus, you can still use library databases, but you'll have to log in using either your campus network ID and password or your library ID number.

When attempting to log in to library databases, you should see a login page that looks like this:

Your campus network id is the username and password that you use to log in to computers on campus. Your username should be in this format: first letter of first name, first letter of middle name, last name. If your name was John Paul Smith, your username would be jpsmith. Your should have set your password yourself. If you're unsure what your password is, try resetting it.

Your Library ID number is the 14-digit number located near the barcode on your North Central ID card. It should look something like this:

If you've tried using your network ID and your library ID number, but still can't log into library databases, please contact us by phone, chat, or email so we can help you gain access to the database.

If you don't see the page above, you should contact us by phone, chat, or email so that we can help you gain access to the database. Or, see our troubleshooting guide for accessing databases from off campus.

Troubleshooting problems with using library databases from off campus

Sometimes the cookie settings in your web browser can prevent you from using library databases from off campus. Web sites use cookies to personalize content, track searches and sites visited, and maintain information on a current session, such as by storing the contents of your online shopping cart. Many library databases use cookies to keep track of a database user's identification as a valid library user. When cookies are blocked by the web browser, the database may not function correctly. Problems may range from failed searches and lost search result to prompts for a username and password by the database itself. See below for information on how to change the cookie settings in several of the most common web browsers.
