Need help finding a book, searching for articles, or tracking down a fact? The library's reference staff is here to help. With so many library resources available online, plus all the research materials in the library, who wouldn't need a little help figuring it all out?
When you need help and you're in the library building, just come to the Information Services Desk in the library's main lobby. Here you can check out materials, borrow items your professor has put on reserve, as well as ask for help with your research. A library staff member is always on duty at the desk whenever the library is open. We can show you how to use the library's web page, find books and articles, or use reference tools to look up data or statistics.
Most subject areas, like business or education, have specialized research tools for finding information. The Research by Subject page on the library's web site is a good place to start, but if you need any help, reference librarians will assist with the resources you need for your topic.
Not planning on coming in to the library? There are several ways to get in touch with reference services staff:
- You can call the Information Services Desk at 630-637-5715 during the hours the library is open and we will be happy to help you over the phone. Some in-depth research questions may require you to come in for help, but there are many things we can assist with over the phone.
- Email your questions using the form on the library's Help page. You should receive an answer from a librarian within 24 hours.
- Chat with a librarian. Just send an instant message to our AIM handle OesterleLibrary during the hours the library is open.
When the library is closed, you will find some helpful information on the Tips page of the library's web site.
