Administrative History:
Created for North Central College employees, handbooks and manuals serve as guides for campus employment policies.

Description:
This series contains three manuals for either faculty or staff which outline policies, procedures, and duties of campus positions. The Faculty Handbook was complied by James Taylor, Dean of Faculty and several North Central teachers in 1979. This handbook details duties and responsibilities of teachers such as advising and professional growth, teaching benefits including tenure, professional term, salary, and fringe benefits, and well as the governance of the college and academic policies of North Central. The most recent Faculty Handbook is maintained electronically on the Faculty Resource Center.

The Non-Academic Administrative and Supervisory Manual was compiled for employees exempt under the Fair Labor Standards Act. This manual outlines the philosophy of North Central, appointment procedures of employees, termination policies, compensation information including salary, overtime, and benefits, as well as leave of absences and retirement.

The Staff Manual was approved by the Board of Trustees in 1965 and is similar to the Non-Academic Administrative and Supervisory Manual but includes more information. This manual details conditions and procedures of staff personnel including employment, holidays, overtime, sick leave, vacations, and the termination policy. Additionally, job classifications and descriptions and the salary policies of the College are included.
