Melissa Jung, the library's Acquisitions Assistant, loves being in the academic environment of the North Central College community, which allows her to interact with so many different people. Her main responsibility is to order and receive new materials (books and media) for the library, which are requested by either faculty or librarians. Most people probably assume that the library buys from Amazon.com, but actually Melissa works directly with several library vendors to secure the best price. She also prepares gift materials donated to the library for addition to the collection, and edits the online catalog. Melissa's is another face you will see at the Information Services Desk, offering assistance to library patrons with computer or printer problems, or needing help in locating library materials.
Melissa earned her bachelor of arts degree in psychology from North Central College in 2006. She values continuing education and enjoys taking post-graduate classes, including coursework in the Library Technical Assistant program at College of DuPage. In addition to her hobbies: the outdoors and being crafty, Melissa enjoys staying active and doing things around the city of Chicago, where she lives.
